Melon pan craze

I

Finally checked out what the craze about this snack was about! First of all though, it's called 世界で2番目においしい焼きたてメロンパンアイス which translates to 'second yummiest freshly baked ice cream-melon-pan in the world'. Bragging and disclaiming at the same time lol.

It's near my workplace and every time I pass by there's a long queue! All the way down to the end of the street on weekends. And when I walk pass it the smell makes my mouth water *_*

If you don't know what Melon pan is -- its a sweet bread with a layer of cookie crust on top. It does not taste anything like melons, though sometimes they are colours green on purpose so it looks more like one haha.

The bread is kept warm in the oven until you order and then they slice it open and sandwich a whole block of ice cream in!!

Look at that huge block of ice cream!! -throws diet out of the window-

So anyway! We ordered one to share (or more like I stole a few mouths haha).
Ice cream and cookies. Nothing can go wrong with that! And then it was warm warm buttery bread with cold gooey ice cream. Double yum! But somehow it didn't blend together completely.

Maybe it was the hot and cold? It was like ice cream and bread were walking together and not holding hands. Then again I like ice cream tempura so I dunno lol. Overall still nice, but I probably wouldn't eat it again.

八天堂(Hattendō) has really good chilled mini ice cream-melon pans though \(^o^)/ they were almost like ice cream cream puffs but just nicely thawed with super delicious custard. Such a treat on a hot day!

I could get used to meetings at 8am

Cappuccino from FUGLEN Tokyo between Shibuya and Harajuku (yoyogi koen is the nearest station to be exact.)

Hard to find places open at 8am in the morning but this place opens at 7.30am. This is one of the kinds of places that is a cafe in the morning and bar at night so it was open early hurray! It is also frequented by lots of gaijins (foreigners) like the previous place lol.

There was one barista in the morning taking order and making drinks. And a small selection of what looked like home made pastries :)  nice and homey feeling though I wish it were a bit brighter! There were a few counter seats at the window that but otherwise it was a little dark inside...

FUGLEN found its way to Tokyo from Norway, established in 1963.

Morning meetings in shibuya

Been having a few meetings in the morning recently. Office near shibuya so the meeting places end up in oshare cafes haha.

This particular one, Streamer Coffee Company had nice coffee and atmosphere, but the interesting thing was that probably 90% of the visitors were foreigners (including me haha). I wonder why?

I got the streamer milk coffee that came in a cute milk bottle :3 nice and creamy but silly me forgot that it was already sweet and added syrup and made it too sweet...

What the fox say? Zao Fox Village in Miyazaki prefecture!

Okay I haven't updated for almost a year (so many photos sleeping in my harddisk lol) but this place was too cute so I had to share the pictures!!

So a while ago I saw some articles on facebook talking about a fox village in Japan. But when I looked up how to get there, it was in Miyazaki prefecture (kind of very far from Tokyo where I live) so I gave up.

But then my parents came to Japan. So we rented a car and hit the road off to Zao fox village! We made a few stops on the way, which I will post about later (or not haha), and it was a really long 4 hour ride but it was definitely worth it!

Entrance costs 1000jpy. Upon entering, one of the staff explained to us what not to do in the enclosure. There was even an English manual! Must be because of the influx of foreigners after those posts on facebook haha. You can also buy sausages to feed the fox with at the entrance.

There was a small petting area outside the free roaming space and we were allowed to pet the foxes at designated times! Apparently too much petting stresses out the foxes. In case anyone goes there and the staff didn't speak English: Approach slowly, squat down, and gently stroke the fox's head from the top. Do not stick out your palm to the fox! Sticking out your hand to the fox = munched. There were also rabbits and goats in pens but of course the stars were the foxes!

Entrance to the free roaming zone! Apparently there are a 100 foxes in this enclosure. There were sooo many signs telling you that the foxes would bite etc, that we were quite nervous. But when we went in the foxes were actually super ~chill~

-flips overs and snores-
Me: OMG I THINK I JUST HEARD A FOX SNORE!

Sleepy fox

More sleepy fox

Hungry fox! The foxes all turned to look up at us when they heard the sound of the plastic bag holding the sausages as I took it out of my purse. They were so swift in picking up the small pieces of sausages! Note to self; don't become prey to fox.

Thirsty fox

Goes back to becoming a sleepy fox after drinking, haha!

Do you see  black and blue or white and gold...?

Fighting fox

And of course, back to sleepy fox!

ツーショット!!

...and a last picture of sleepy foxes! :3 癒される~

I must have taken almost a hundred sleepy fox pictures but they all started to look the same so I posted my favourites hehe. This was such a wonderful getaway I wanna go back again soon! *o*
